ANDREW STRAIN
Vice President of Development
Andrew has planned and developed complex projects in highly-regulated markets for over 20 years. Presently, Strain is Vice President of Development at Tahoe Beach Club, a 143 unit luxury condominium project with a private members’ club on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Over the course of his career, Strain has worked as the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Land Use Planner, Director of Planning at Heavenly Mountain Resort, and the Vice President of Planning & Governmental Affairs at Vail Resorts. His most notable projects include, the Northstar Mountain Master Plan, and the Heavenly Mountain Master Plan: a comprehensive 4,800 acre resort development and redevelopment plan that included new ski lifts, ski trail expansion, snowmaking system expansion, base lodge area redevelopment at three locations (Heavenly California Base Lodge, Heavenly Stagecoach Lodge, and Heavenly Tamarack Lodge), and additional on-mountain restaurants and summer activities.
On top of his professional engagements, Strain remains heavily involved in his local community. He served on the board of the Tahoe Transportation District, Lake Tahoe Transportation & Water Quality Coalition, Tahoe Douglas Chamber of Commerce, and the Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee, which allocated $300M in federal funding over his eight year involvement for environmental restoration projects included in the Lake Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program. He is a current Board of Trustees Member of The Nature Conservancy, Nevada Chapter.
Strain holds a Bachelor of Arts in Regional/Environmental Planning with honors from the University of Utah, along with a Master of Landscape Architecture with honors from the University of Washington. He is a registered landscape architect in the state of Nevada.
